Manager, Operations

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Manager of Operations has the responsibilities of leading, managing and growing the operations team to ensure the delivery of high quality quote creation, project implementation and post-sales technical support desk.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and oversees the team responsible for Quote Generation, Project Implementation and Post Implementation services.
  • Oversees Project Planning and execution, including the definition of project scope, estimate time, cost, and resources requirements. Ensures projects are executed according to advocated AConnex PM Methodology. Assess project risk, develop risk mitigation strategies, and support the pre-sales team to develop contracts and project pricing
  • Plan by prioritizing customer, employee and organizational requirements
  • Ensure the successful implementation of all projects, including managing and balancing client expectations with the resources available to accomplish the particular task
  • Oversee the Production of Maintenance Contracts and ensure accurate records are maintained
  • Manage and ensure the successful operation of the Support desk including balancing the need for client satisfaction with the organization’s need to ensure revenue can be generated from all sources
  • Lead by developing and disseminating  the organizations strategy/mission statement to all staff
  • Ensure that appropriate staff (skill set) and staff levels (number) are assigned to a project including balancing the need to develop the skill level of new staff while ensuring that a project be completed on time, on schedule and on budget 
  • Responsible for team performance evaluation for the measure of performance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Manage by creating and maintaining a positive flow of work by utilizing what resources and facilities are available. Organize resources such as facilities and employees so as to ensure effective production of services
  • Maintaining and monitoring staffing, levels, Knowledge-Skill-Attitude (KSA), expectations and motivation to fulfill organizational requirements
  • Provide suggestion and feedback to corporate strategic planning and practices, participate in the management meetings and provide inputs to the senior management team

INTERACTIONS

  • Ensure the successful creation of quotes including balancing the need for quotes to be created in a timely fashion while still ensuring their accuracy. Ensure quotes produced adhere to standards put forth by the company’s overall strategy
  • Plan and execute team growth and development strategy
  • Establish and maintain inter-departmental communications strategy and facilitate other departments when needed
  • Coordinate the staffing level so that other initiatives within the organization can be successfully achieved while still ensuring the customers’ support calls are attended to

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to write business correspondence.  Create procedural documentation and develop the project responses to customer’s and partner’s requirements

  • Bilingual (English and French) a strong asset


LEADERSHIP:

  • Assume leadership role and build up the team to provide high quality services to external and internal users
  • Provide timely coaching, guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge and skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem
  • Ability to use logical sound judgment and experience to determine the appropriate course of action based on scenario, procedures, and guidelines, for a given situation
  • Encourage and enhance positive attitude amongst team members

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • University or college degree/diploma (Technology or Business degree preferred)
  • 2+ years related experience in IT or business fields (candidate with excellent background will also be considered)
  • Good project planning and execution skills, including ability to make mid-course corrections
  • Sound knowledge of project management and proficient knowledge in MS Project
  • Familiar with AConnex PM Methodology an asset
  • Strong leadership, management, coaching and organizational skills
  • Strong problem solver and planner with organizational and analytical ability 
  • Self motivated, positive with "can-do" attitude, take independent actions and participate in self-development activities and keep up with emerging technologies
  • Keen attention to detail, logical and efficient.  Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
  • Knowledge of 802.11 technologies; experience in telecom, voice, data an asset
  • Management of help desk experience an asset

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines
  • Willing to travel to customer sites: includes local, national and international (up to 15%)
